Church Ope Studio Self contained holiday let on the Jurassic Coast Path at Portland
Church Ope Studio is a holiday hideaway right on the coast path at Church Ope Cove. Walk outside your door onto the path and look at the sea over breakfast.
In the winter the sea views are wild. In the summer, the sea is glimpsed through the trees which shelter the path.
Unique to Portland, at Church Ope you have stone, sea and green trees!
This Portland stone studio offers you a peaceful and tranquil base from which to explore this unique and beautiful area.
Church Ope Cove is an excellent place to visit all year round with clean sea bathing, snorkelling and diving, with bird and butterfly watching, rock climbing, walking, dog walking and cycling along the cliff paths, with seal and dolphin watching, with water sports including sailing, kite surfing and wind surfing at the Olympic Sailing Centre.
Come to visit the thatched museum just round the corner, Rufus castle and St Andrews church ruins just down the path, as well as study archaeology and geology. Weymouths sandy beaches and Dorchester county town are within easy reach by car or bus.

Church Ope Studio has sea views and is open all year round
Portland's world heritage coastline and coast path is outside your door. The studio is an ideal base from which to explore this Jurassic coast, Thomas Hardy's Wessex as well as the National Sailing Academy where the 2012 Olympic sailing championships will be held.
Chesil beach, a wonder of the world, stretches from Portland to West Bay at Bridport market town.
And after all that activity, there is just coming for retreat, rest and relaxation.
The studio is cosy, light, airy and tucked away from the busy world.

Church Ope Studio sleeps 2 adults and one younger child. Your dog is welcome.
You have your own front door leading straight out onto the coast path above Church Ope Cove. The holiday accommodation is one large, light and airy room, built from local stone and newly re-developed and decorated and with en suite shower room.
- Facilities include -
- One double bed and one single futon bed.
- En suite shower room and toilet
- Wet and dry hanging space.
- A kitchenette with full sized fridge, toasted sandwich maker, kettle, microwave oven and grill and George Foreman electric griddle. Please note there are no cooker rings.
- BBQ on the patio.
- A multi fuel stove (fuel supplied. Extra available at cost) as well as central heating and additional oil filled radiator ensures it stays cosy all year round..
- Free view television and DVD player with a selection of movies.
- Radio with CD player with CDs
- Bring your own Wi-Fi lap top for wireless connection to the internet.
- Small breakfast arbour next to car port
- Car port, bordered by flowers, with space for one car/van.
- Linen and hand towels included.

Church Ope Cove
is a secluded cove nestled beneath the historic Rufus Castle and St Andrews Church. It is accessible by 150 odd steps or by a sloping path through the woods or from the coast path and then steps.
There are toilets and clean running water once you are on the beach.
Church ope cove is a clean swimming beach.
Snorkelling and fishing also.

Find Church Ope Studio Accommodation
On the Isle of Portland off Weymouth in the UK - Follow the A354. Go over the causeway between Chesil beach on your right and Portland harbour with the National Sailing Academy on your left.
Keeping left, follow the hill up to the top of Portland with panoramic views over Chesil Bank to your right. At this roundabout take the first main exit and keeping left carry on through Easton Square with the Co-op shop to your left and Easton Square to your right.
Follow the left then right bend in the road and continue down Wakeham, a wide road descending towards the sea, until you come to the thatched Portland museum just after the Mermaid pub.
Church Ope Road is the turning on the left between the museum and the castle arch ahead of you on the bend of the road. Church Ope Road is a no throughway leading straight out onto the coast path.

Church Ope Studio has Parking
for one car. There is additional space on Wakeham or just after the bend on Wakeham on the right at the Portland Museum car park. |
Dogs
One house trained, people and dog friendly companion is welcome. Our wire haired fox terrier Dasher lives at the house behind the studio and uses the yard next to it. She is sociable and child friendly. The extra fee for the dog is to cover the extra housekeeping and steam cleaning incurred by a dog visitor. |
